When I start visualizing a project, the sense of insecurity and vulnerability leads me to approach the impermanence of existence and identity. The process of discovering ambiguous symbols and seeking meanings is re-encoded and reconstructed endlessly. By delving into the concept of home and the nuances of identity, my oil painting, "Realistically Impossible to Make a Pure Straight Line Outside of Scientific or Mathematical Parameters," intertwines with the project's theme, asking what memories and experiences are being constructed by shifting multitudes. When pondering the question, "Where are you from?" the notion of home becomes pivotal. Just as my piece explores the limits of achieving perfection in straight lines, the idea of home often transcends physical boundaries and manifests in myriad ways. Through my brushstrokes, I strive to encapsulate the timeless essence of Korean culture while navigating the impermanence of existence and identity, honoring the enduring legacy of craftsmanship and the transformative power of artistic expression.
